What to do!

Each day I will be uploading learning here. Children can then send their learning back to be via Seesaw (They have their own logins- Contact me via Dojo if this doesn't work or send the learning on Class Dojo and I will upload it.

All tasks should be able to be completed without the need for adult support/ supervision. (But they may need some encouragement). If they get stuck or need additional learning then please visit https://www.smgprimary.co.uk/home-learning-bubble-closure/ (cover page) as it is full of useful websites!

I will be checking in on Dojo throughout the day so please do not hesitate to contact me!

Thanks, Mr D.

I am so sorry about your Spirituality session today. I mistakenly sent Mr Draper the unedited and unfinished version!

I hope I haven't confused you.

Stay safe. God Bless.

What to do if our class has to isolate? (Bubble closure)

First of all your child will be sent home with a Home Learning Book- This should be treated as a school book e.g. Best handwriting, beautiful presentation, kept clean and neat etc

I will be sending the same learning that we would be completed in class. Tasks should be completed in their home learning books and then a photo of them taken and returned on SEESAW. Please return maths as a maths task, English as an English task, and so on..

In the front cover of this book, there is a list of suggested websites so that if your child finishes any tasks they ALWAYS have something to move their learning on.

What to do if my child has to isolate?

If your child is absent from school for three days or more due to self-isolation we recommend that you complete this work and send photographs via SEESAW. This will help your child to keep up with the work that is being completed in class. Should you require any help or have any questions about this work, please contact us via Class Dojo.

Cooking Week 2

Cooking - week 1

Our first week of cooking on our 'Cool Kids Can Cook' course provided by Kind Communities.

This week we all made poached and scrambled eggs.  We talked about caged, barn and free range eggs; best before dates; and how to check if and egg is still fresh.  Then everyone got to poach, scramble and eat their food.

Next week we will make chicken fajita with salsa - hopefully some of it will make it home.

Reception Buddies Visit

We had a lovely afternoon visiting our Reception Buddies.

Colin Parsons Author Visit

On Tuesday 30th September these amazing writers headed to Queen's Drive Primary School to spend a day with children from other schools and Colin R Parsons - an author from Wales.
Whilst we were there we got to ask Colin lots of questions and he talked to us about becoming an author.   He then talked us through how to structure a short story and everyone got time to write their own.  After the workshop, we bought a few of his books and he signed them for us.

Welcome to Oak Class!

EFFORT

Year 6 marks the end of the your time at St Maria Goretti Catholic School and it is always an extremely busy time. Over the year, you will grow from children to young adults; ready to make the move to Secondary School.

As the oldest members of the school, there are lots of opportunities for you to develop skills and attitudes! You are now the role models for the younger children and as part of this you hold positions of responsibility.  For example: Prefects, School Council representatives, Play Buddies for our EYFS children, FBA Leaders and Digital Leaders.
In Year 6, you are expected to work hard, developing the skills and independence you will need at Secondary School. Standard Assessment Tasks (SATs) are in May and lots of preparation work is undertaken before this.

In English work, we study all kinds of fiction and non-fiction genres, fine tuning our reading and writing skills. Grammar is important and you will start to see how authors use this to make their writing more interesting and use it to improve your own work.
Our maths becomes more sophisticated and you will become confident calculating with larger numbers and decimals. Amongst other things, we work with: simplifying and converting fractions, percentages and decimals; perimeter and area of compound shapes; presenting and interpreting data in different forms, and solving multi step word problems.

Please follow the links for the latest Oak Class news and events.

If you need to get in touch please don’t hesitate to contact me.
