At St Maria Goretti, we encourage your child to have a love of reading and sharing books. We deliver a daily phonics session in synthetic phonics and regularly listen to the children read. We follow Red Rose Phonics as our phonics program. We aim to build children's speaking and listening skills in their own right as well as to prepare children for learning to read by developing their phonic knowledge and skills. We expect children to be reading regularly at home and appreciate your support. Thank you, Mrs Sergeant

• Phonics - How to pronounce pure sounds - Here's a video you may find useful at home, produced by Oxford Owl- this is how we pronounce the sounds we are learning. It is very important the children are learning the pure sound- as shown in the video.
